Out of the Gates into the Future

Year 12 Graduate Maddison B. has just finished school and knows exactly where she is heading: back to Guppy’s Early Learning Centre where she completed her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care to begin her Diploma studies and continue her career in the thriving childcare industry.

Accumulating almost 700 hours of work experience in her senior years of learning, Maddison attained several qualifications in addition to her Early Childhood certificate including certificates in business, hospitality, retail, tourism, and first aid which were built into her education pathway. Never missing a day of work experience and her tireless application to learning saw Maddison take out one of the top prizes at the recent Seton College Awards evening, VET Student of the Year.

Pathways Academic Leader, Mrs Kathryn Flint, said that Maddison’s qualifications were carefully planned and added to during the course of her Senior learning.

“Maddison was always drawn to the Early Childhood Education, so we planned her pathways around a traineeship during Years 11 and 12,” Mrs Flint said. “She also attained an impressive list of Certificate II qualifications across a range of industries. Maddison is leaving the College not only with a plan for further study but with skills to work in any number of jobs should she choose to.”
